Statement of Faith
We believe in God, the Creator of heaven and earth, of all there is, in whose image we are created. We believe in a loving, compassionate, wise creator, inspirer of the laws of life as read in scripture.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's son, who, sharing in the Creator's divinity, lived in this world, and was sent as a perfect sacrifice. He died on the cross for our sins and rose again so that we can have a right relationship with God. Jesus is God's expression of love to us. He came to reveal God's kingdom on earth. Jesus reached out to the lost and the outcasts. He is our teacher, our brother, our challenger and exhorter. He turns the world around with what he says and all his lessons teach us to see things in a new light. Jesus teaches us how to seek the essence of humanity and God's presence in every individual. He shows us the abundance and joy of God's love.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, breath of life, sent to be among us to be our counselor, teacher, encourager, healer, comforter, advocate, and source of inspiration. God's message of hope, joy, and love continues to be revealed to us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are called by the Spirit to be stewards of creation, caretakers of this place: rocks, trees, waters, air, mountains, plants and animals, and each other.
We affirm the living presence of God as we participate in the holy sacrament of baptism and communion. Through the waters of baptism, we participate in the death of sin and the resurrection into new life in Jesus Christ. We come together to share in communion each month, celebrating the unity we have as the body of Christ, and the uniqueness we cherish as individuals in the new covenant of Christ's blood.
We believe that we are children of the Living God, dearly loved and instructed to go out into the world to help bring about God's kingdom on earth, to deliver Christ's message of hope and compassion, and to share the power of the Holy Spirit with rejoicing. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or death can separate us form the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
